Virtual Exhibition 1/23/21 Facebook Live

THE CHALLENGE – How much quality true-to-myself artwork can I create in 32 days? On December 15th, 2020 I was notified of an opening to display at the Norfolk Botanical Garden in January. My collection is in Albuquerque, New Mexico…do I drive 2,000 miles to retrieve my art and then drive 2,000 miles back?
HECK NO – I wanted to challenge myself, push myself to find new extrapolations in creativity. So I chose the umbrella of Apotheosis in which the artwork will be themed. Apotheosis is the elevation or exaltation of a person to the rank of a god, or the ideal example, epitome, quintessence, climax. Oh, the apotheosis idea was already rolling around in my fertile brain. For the past few weeks I was helping an elderly friend in whom I respect and love dearly and also looking closely at the gorgeous sunsets around Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Nature was telling me something. She had a message. The paint brush was all too willing to strike the canvas and I began painting the gleam of beauty at one’s end.
Join me for the virtual artist talk of Accelerated Apotheosis. It is a homecoming of sorts because I was the first resident artist that lived on the property of the Norfolk Botanical Garden from 2014-2018.
